Police: Woman returns stolen van after finding child inside

SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly stole a van with a small child inside.

According to a probable cause statement, Juana Marie Valdez took the van, which had been left running, and planned to bring it to her father’s house.

When Valdez realized a small child was in the back, she immediately returned the vehicle, the statement said.

Salt Lake City police arrested Valdez around 10 a.m. and took her to the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.

She faces a first-degree felony stolen motor vehicle charge.

    I appreciate that she had the integrity to return the child to the parents. We all have a tendency to do stupid things when we are low; but sometimes Heavenly Father sends us a way out of our folly. It’s another “It’s a wonderful life” story where she made the better choice. Good for her!

    Seriously people. do unto others as you want others to do unto you. She returned the child, its not like she wanted to kidnap. Its time for opening your hearts and not act with your head. It for us to condemn or judge. all this world has come to is money, greed. Its time for love and forgiveness in this world.
