LOGAN– The Utah State football team got an outstanding game from their defense and just enough from their offense to extend their winning streak to four games in a row with a 13-0 victory over Colorado State on Saturday.

The Aggies managed just 191 total yards of offense, but that’s still six yards more than they gave up to the Rams while delivering a shutout at Romney Stadium.

The only touchdown of the game came in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Joey DeMartino. Nick Diaz connected on field goals of 24 and 44 yards to complete the scoring.

The Utah State defense forced two turnovers, both interceptions, both by linebackers named Vigil, but not by the same player. The first went to senior Zach Vigil (the first of his career) and the second was by his younger brother, redshirt freshman Nick.

While the team is pleased with the win, they don’t expect to manage a win next week in the season finale against Wyoming unless they can generate more offense.

The Cowboys completed their home schedule on Saturday by winning a shootout with Hawaii, 59-56 in overtime.

If Utah State can beat Wyoming on Nov. 30, they will finish the season with a five-game winning streak and a chance at reaching the inaugural Mountain West Conference championship game.
