PROVO, Utah – Provo could soon join other cities that have passed anti-discrimination ordinances designed to protect members of the LGBT community.

Provo City staff will soon begin researching discrimination in housing and employment in Provo after a request from city council members made Tuesday.

Councilman Sterling Beck has said it’s critical for Provo to pass an anti-discrimination ordinance because he said not doing so prevents businesses from moving into the area. Brigham Young University would be exempt in terms of employment and the housing it owns.
