SALT LAKE CITY – A gala was held in Salt Lake City Saturday night to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Zions Bank hosted the 15th Annual Taste of Utah Gala and Auction at the Grand America Hotel, and the event raised awareness about cystic fibrosis as well as funds to find a cure.

Laura Hadley, executive director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, said life expectancy for those with cystic fibrosis has improved over the years.

“This year for the first time, more than half the CF population is above the age of 18, so it’s just a big milestone year, a milestone time.”

Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber, was honored with the Tiffany & Co. Breath of Life Award. According to a press release, “Lane is being recognized as being a selfless community leader who helps everyone breathe a little easier by making a difference in our community.”

Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs and digestive system, and it impacts about 30,000 people in the nation. For more information regarding the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, visit their website.
