SALT LAKE CITY -- Another hint of snow will hit the Salt Lake Valley while northern Utah saw snow accumulations Saturday.

The snow is flying in northern Utah and is making its way down the state, officials with the National Weather Service said Saturday morning. Cache Valley currently has a winter advisory.

East Layton received about 4.5 inches of snow Saturday, while Pleasant View got 3.5 inches. Ogden and Centerville both received about an inch, and Clearfield saw 1.7 inches of snow.

Snow was still falling in some areas Saturday night, and it was expected that about a foot of snow would fall in the mountains.

Meteorologist Mark Struthwolf said Wasatch benches will see minimal accumulation.

“It’s not going to be an intense snowfall,” Struthwolf said.

Crews with Utah Department of Transportation will be out plowing the roads so there shouldn’t be any major problems, the meteorologist said.

This may be the first snow many people are driving in this year, Struthwolf said, and suggested motorists be cautious and drive slow.

Utah Highway Patrol responded to at least two minor crashes in Parley's Canyon Saturday morning.

Utah State Route 65 closed early for the winter season due to higher than anticipated snowfall.

Weekend temperatures are expected to be in the 40s with lows between 28-30 degrees.
