SALT LAKE CITY – Dedicated quilters have donated thousands of hours to produce the quilts that will be auctioned off at a show to raise money for medical research and education.

The 30th Anniversary Holiday Quilt Show and Auction is underway, and this year the show features 83 quilts that will be sold to raise money for Intermountain Medical Center.

Auctioneer Jodi Cheney said the quilts have broad appeal to most.

“I believe with quilts there is something very warm and comforting with quilts,” Cheney said. “We all remember quilts we’ve had that our grandmother or great grandmothers have quilted, and just the feeling that you get from them that—the warmth, the enjoyment.”

The show has raised nearly $3 million since it began in 1983, and the event is being held at the Little America Hotel now through Nov. 21.

The Holiday Quilt Dinner and Auction will be held Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Little America Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. Click here for more information about the show and auction.
