COALVILLE, Utah – A local group of the Future Farmers of America went a long way in a national competition recently.

The group from Coalville was one of 42 teams in a parliamentary procedure competition, where students had to demonstrate their knowledge of parliamentary law and use the correct procedures.

The group won a state competition in March, and they placed fourth at the national competition. Shianne Hobson was on the team, and she said it was a great experience.

“We worked really, really hard, and it was like having school every day in the summer, but it was completely worth it because it’s something that we love to do,” she said.

Jessica Vernon said it was great to place so highly in the competition.

“When our name was called for the final four it was one of the most exciting moments in our parliamentary procedure career,” she said.

The competition included a written test, a demonstration and debate.
