SALT LAKE CITY – Questar Gas is requesting an increase to its natural gas rates in Utah, and if the request is approved residential customers will see their bill increase by about 30 cents.

The proposal will need to be approved by the Public Service Commission of Utah, and if approved the increase would take effect Dec. 1.

In a press release, Craig Wagstaff, executive vice president and COO of Questar Gas, said they are doing everything they can to keep rates competitive.

“Abundant natural gas supplies continue to hold down the price of natural gas,” he said. “But costs associated with enhancing the safety and reliability of our high-pressure pipelines are up. Still, we’re continuing to work hard to make sure our rates remain among the lowest in the country.”

Funds may be available to help income-eligible customers who are elderly or disabled to pay their gas bills. Customers can dial 211 for more information about such assistance programs.
