LAYTON, Utah – The man accused of driving a vehicle up the steps of the Utah Capitol earlier this month has been booked into jail on drug charges.

Security footage captured the Oct. 22 incident, where police said 36-year-old Gerald Weston Green managed to drive up three flights of stairs and tried to enter the Supreme Court chambers.

Officials said Green had a small marijuana grow in his home, and officials said earlier that promoting the legalization of marijuana may have been part of the man’s motive.

Green was booked into the Davis County Jail this week on multiple drug charges as well as a child abuse charge.
