PROVO, Utah – A group of Brigham Young University students teamed up with a company that specializes in 3-D virtual tours to offer users a high-tech walk-through of the school’s campus.

The virtual tour offers impressive 3-D visuals of the 560-acre campus, and the view is sprinkled with extras like embedded videos, social media plugins, advice from students and even a game-like element where users can unlock prizes for collecting hidden items.

According to a press release from BYU.edu, 15 students began working on the project in May after the company XplorIT offered the students their technology if the students would do the legwork to create the tour. The students walked the campus with fisheye lenses and captured the images before stitching them together for the tour.

BYU student Paris Sorbonne said in the press release the project was an important one.

“..there was this moment during this project when I thought I want to be here,” Sorbonne said. “This campus is just so beautiful. There is a legacy behind it. It’s changed lives. So that split second when I felt that, I thought this is what I want the tour to be about.”
