SALT LAKE CITY — Five Salt Lake City residents evacuated their apartment complex after a fire from an outside shed moved into the building early Sunday morning, fire officials said.

Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at 1476 S. 200 East at 2:51 a.m. where a shed caught fire and moved into one of the apartments on the second floor, fire officials said. The apartment suffered fire damage while five other units in the building suffered smoke and water damage.

The shed was completely destroyed. Fire investigators determined the blaze was human caused, likely from transient activity.

The five residents of the building had already evacuated by the time firefighters arrived. There were no injuries reported. The Red Cross was on scene to help those displaced find a place to stay.
