PROVO, Utah – A bathtub was the star witness during the second day of the trial for a Utah doctor who is accused of killing his wife.

Dr. Martin MacNeill is accused of killing Michele MacNeill, allegedly in order to continue an affair with another woman, click here for more coverage of this case.

Neighbors of the MacNeill’s who tried to revive Michele testified Friday, but prosecutors tried to insinuate that Martin MacNeill faked CPR.

Witnesses testified that they got a knock on the door from Martin MacNeill’s young daughter, who said, ‘my dad needs help.’ The neighbors went to the home and performed CPR on Michele. Prosecutors actually brought a bath tub, the same type that Michele MacNeill died in, into the court room and had witnesses demonstrate how and where Michele was found.

Witnesses testified that while they performed CPR, they didn’t see Martin MacNeill actually perform mouth-to-mouth to resuscitate his wife.

Neighbor Angie Aguilar, when asked if she saw MacNeill breathing into his wife’s mouth, said: “No... I don't remember him actually blowing into her mouth. I don’t.”

A police officer who responded to the scene testified that Martin MacNeill seemed so agitated as the officer performed CPR that the officer actually feared for his safety. The officer testified that when he did CPR, Michele actually coughed up a significant amount of water.

The trial has ended for the week, and it is scheduled to resume Tuesday morning. MacNeill’s daughters are expected to take the stand next week to testify.
