LAVERKIN CITY, Utah –A man faces serious charges after an altercation Tuesday night, and though the suspect’s booking charges initially included aggravated murder, by Wednesday afternoon that charge had been replaced by one of aggravated assault with intent.

Chief Lloyd Watkins of the  LaVerkin City Police Department said officers arrested 54-year-old John Stettler Stucki after an altercation.

Stucki was booked in the Purgatory Correctional Facility on several charges, including disorderly conduct, intoxication and criminal mischief. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office initially listed aggravated murder among the charges on their bookings website, but by Wednesday afternoon that charge had been removed and one of assault with aggravated intent was in place.

Specific details about the incident leading to Stucki’s arrest were not immediately available. FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
