(FOX 4) — Patrons at a New York City coffee shop had the beans scared out of them when movie makers staged an elaborate prank to promote the upcoming horror film Carrie.

Jokers rigged tables and books to operate by remote control and connected a cable to a man who ‘accidentally’ spilled coffee onto a woman’s computer. She becomes so angry she yells at the man, which sends him flying up the wall (thanks to that discreetly hidden cable). Later, tables and chairs move away from her, and when she screams bloody-murder, books and pictures fly off the wall — which send patrons scurrying out the door with horrified expressions.

The adaptation of the classic horror film Carrie will be in theaters Oct. 18.
