SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz got together Monday for its first Media Day to talk about the upcoming 2013-14 NBA season.

With teammates Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap gone from the roster, some the returning players have gone from rookies to veterans for the team.

“I’m a veteran and everything and it definitely doesn’t feel like that,” said Jazz player Gordon Hayward. “I’m 23 and I’m still pretty young — I think Leadership has no age, shows no ages and I’m ready.”

Jazz player Derrick Favors said he’s been waiting for this moment.

“You know I have been working hard – I’ve been preparing for this moment and I’m ready,” Favors said.

This is a young team for the Jazz with Hayward, age 23, for a possible starting five.

But the team isn’t worried about it.

“You know all of the change makes me excited,” said player Enes Kanter. “All the stuff they have changed around, the team change, our arena is changing, all the stuff around is changing — the change is making me and making my teammates so excited.”

Player Marvin Williams said he’s been part of young teams before.

“You just never know,” he said. “The one thing you do know is that is with young guys you’re always excited to get out there and play and you always compete.”
