HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Officials at Hill Air Force Base have initiated contingency plans in the event of a government shutdown.

All military personnel at the base would remain on regular duty status, but all civilian personnel paid by appropriated funds would be furloughed, according to Richard Essary, a Media Relations worker at the base.

There would be exceptions with the furloughs, Essary explained, with exempt employees and for the minimum number of employees necessary to fulfill excepted activities necessary for national security and safety.

“We anticipate direct working capital fund employees to
be exempt from furlough as long as working capital funds are available,” Essary said in a statement sent to FOX 13 News.

All HAFB personnel are expected to report for duty as normal Tuesday.

“At that time, non-excepted, excepted and exempt employees would receive specific direction in regard to their respective duty status,” the statement said.
