NORTH SALT LAKE — A West Valley City man led police on a high-speed chase through North Salt Lake early Sunday morning officials said.

At approximately 7:05 a.m. Utah Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop Trevor Reed, 22, who was speeding on Interstate 15 southbound at speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour, said Cpl. Mark Nelson with North Salt Lake Police Department.

Reed got off I-15 and onto U.S. Highway 89 traveling south. The West Valley man lost control of the car and crashed into the Spectrum Auto Group, located at 650 N. Highway 89, Nelson said.

Reed reportedly got out of the car and fled on foot. Nelson said an officer used a taser to apprehend him.

Through further investigation police learned Reed had allegedly broken into a home in Logan early that night and stole the vehicle he crashed.

Reed is also wanted on warrants for burglary and theft.
