SALT LAKE CITY --The future of the Outdoor Retailers Summer Market in Salt Lake City is uncertain. But excitement is still in the air for the 2013 event, which starts this week.
Utah lawmakers killed a bill that would have used more than $30 million in taxpayer dollars to build a mega hotel by the Salt Palace Convention Center, 90 S. West Temple.
A hotel, Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams said, was necessary to keep the outdoor retailer and other big conventions in the city.
This is the 13th annual of the outdoor retailer expo. The convention is contracted to stay in the city ‘til 2016.
From California to Colorado to Illinois, vendors come from across the country to participate.
