West Valley City standoff ends peacefully

UPDATE: The standoff ended peacefully at around 6 p.m. Friday. 22-year-old Ione Christmas Taylor surrendered to police.

Officers were able to obtain a search warrant and were able to enter Taylor’s house, and he began to be cooperative.

Taylor is now facing a number of charges.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Police are at a West Valley City home where they say a man has barricaded himself inside.

The incident started at 4362 West Deno Drive (4385 South) in West Valley at around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Police say the man was involved in a domestic fight with his wife in front of a three-year-old child. The wife and child were able to leave the home, but the man is not answering police demands to come out of the house.

Officers believe the man may be armed, but no shots have been fired so far.

Two homes next door have been evacuated and four others are under shelter in place for a possible evacuation order.
