SALT LAKE CITY – A statue has been stolen from a popular sandwich shop in downtown Salt Lake City.

The owner of Moochie’s Meatballs, located at 232 East and 800 South in Salt Lake City, says someone broke in and stole their mascot on Tuesday night.

The statue is of a woman dressed in a robe, holding a meatball. They call her “Moochie Madonna.”

“I’ve had her for ten years and it’s really cool. We dress her up for holidays and things like that,” said owner Joanna Rendy. “The really sad thing is we’re getting ready to celebrate our ten-year anniversary next month and I’m not going to have our mascot.”

Police are looking at surveillance video to identify a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
