OGDEN, Utah – Pineveiw Water Systems is asking their water users to voluntarily reduce their water usage by at least 20 percent due to low water supplies.

According to a press release from Pineview Water Systems, there has been a 20 percent reduction in water deliveries from the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District.

Scott Paxman of the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District said lack of rain has been an issue.

"We've gotten very little rain," he said. "Zero in June, and these showers just lately have been a Godsend, but they haven't been much. So it's still very critical  that we have these restrictions in place and that people understand the severity of the drought."

The request applies to all users on the pressurized systems as well as agricultural users. PWS is made up of three entities: The Ogden River Water Users Association, The South Ogden Conservation District and The Weber-Box Elder Conservation district.

PWS does not allow watering between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and according to the press release, there will be increased monitoring of water use and excessive watering of any type will not be allowed.

The release said existing restrictions will be strictly enforced and wasteful use of water or failure to comply with regulations will result in the loss of water service for the remainder of the water season. A $500 charge would apply to reestablish water service next year.
