SALT LAKE CITY — Parking meters in Salt Lake City are expected to be up and running again by Wednesday, which means people parking will have to start paying again.

City officials said the system-wide outage, which began June 28, was partially caused by extremely hot weather. On the day the meters stopped working, the high temperature for the city was 105 degrees. That is the highest temperature ever recorded in the area in the month of June.

City officials said the circuit boards overheated. They said while the problem has been resolved for now, they are still looking at long-term upgrades for the system.
