PROVO, Utah – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Missionary Training Center has exceeded capacity, and they’ve had to find more space to hold weekly devotionals.

About 2,500 LDS missionaries made their way across the street and into the Marriott Center Tuesday. This was the first time an MTC devotional was held at the center.

The overflow comes in the wake of a staggering growth in missionaries after the LDS church changed the age requirements for young men and women who wish to serve. The LDS church has opened a second MTC campus to help house the new missionaries.

Sister Nicholle Peng is one of the missionaries currently in the MTC, and she said the growth is exciting.

“Especially with opening another campus, I think it’s really cool that they need more space to put all of us missionaries, and I think they are doing a great job so far,” she said.
