DRAPER, Utah – Residents in Draper are concerned about the dust that is coming from a nearby Geneva Rock plant.

Draper officials met with residents Tuesday night to listen to concerns and explain why the dust is at an all-time high.

Geneva Rock is moving excavation efforts up the mountain, and when the wind picks up dust from the excavation sites is blown into nearby neighborhoods. Some residents, like Blake Pelton, said that dust is bad for their quality of life.

“At our house we develop congestion and dry cough,” he said. “Our pets do the same thing. There is a layer of dust on everything from our lawn to our coffee table.”

City officials are working with Geneva Rock to find possible solutions to air quality concerns in the area.
