SALT LAKE CITY --  New census data reveals that Utah is the top state in the nation when it comes to internet access, and it is one of the most wired states in the nation.

According to the data, only 7.5 percent of Utah’s population has no internet connectivity whatsoever. That’s well below the national average.

Mississippi was the least connected state. Nearly 27 percent of their population has no internet access of any kind.

Utah was also among the top states for the number of people who access the internet on multiple devices throughout the day. Nearly one in four people in Utah fall into that category.

XMission President Pete Ashdown said these numbers match his perceptions of the state.  “I've felt that for a long time,” he said. “We have a very tech savvy populace here in Utah. We have a great history on the internet. The University of Utah was one of the first four nodes on the internet.”
