KAYSVILLE, Utah — Law enforcement officers, their families and others donated blood Monday at the Boondocks Fun Center in Kaysville.

The Police Wives of Utah is a non-profit organization, and they hosted the blood drive. The organization was started several months ago after wives of police officers saw there were many law enforcement families in need of blood donors.

Becca DeHart said their organization is about helping other people.

“The friendships, the fun times and the support that we have—we just want to give it back to the community and to our law enforcement families,” she said.

Officer Vicki Jeppson of the Clinton City Police Department said she was glad to take part in the blood drive.

“It’s always a good cause, always, always,” Jeppson said. “So, whatever nervousness or discomfort or anything is always worth it.”

More than 70 people donated blood at the drive, and the donations will go to the American Red Cross. Event organizers said they hope to host a blood drive each year.
