SALT LAKE CITY -- The Downtown Farmers Market in Pioneer Park is open for the summer and busier than ever, and this year the market offers more than just food.

Farmer John Borski set up shop at the farmer’s market 20 years ago, and he said the event has gotten bigger every year since then.

“There was honestly four or five us here the first couple of years,” he said. “And then it started building and building and building. And then they let the food in and the artists in and now there are people on the side of the road and down the street that are setting up their stuff.”

Nick Como of the Downtown Alliance said the farmers market isn’t just about produce.

“When you see farmers markets you think fruits and vegetables, but we also have a lot of local foods like humus, cheese, breads and baked goods, and we have arts and crafts and you can get lunch here too,” he said.

The market has extended its hours this year to meet demand; it will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. . The market will be open every Saturday until October.
