PARLEYS CANYON, Utah – Portions of Parleys Canyon will be closed Wednesday while construction crews do some work with explosives.

Utah Department of Transportation crews will be blasting along a stretch of road between mile markers 129 and 131. The blasting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tim Rose of UDOT said they are asking drivers to be mindful of the workers.

“We’re just asking everybody to slow down,” he said. “Drive this canyon as if it was your sons and daughters working in these work zones.”

The crews are replacing a drainage system. Construction began last week and is expected to end in November. While lanes may be closed at different days and times, UDOT officials said all three lanes of traffic will be open during peak hours and holidays until the project is finished.
