SALT LAKE CITY -- Talented dancers took the stage at Capitol Theater in downtown Salt Lake City Saturday night.

The group Shaping Sound infuses a mix of modern dance and ‘20s inspired moves, and many of the members are former contestants on Fox’s hit show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Travis Wall, Shaping Sound co-founder, said they are a very different kind of dance company.

“I think we thrive on entertainment value, and I think there's something for everybody in our audience, and I think one of the best and most well received numbers is something that's unexpected: We go into the speak easy, musical theater number, and the audience jumps to their feet when we're finished,” he said.

Saturday’s performance was part of a nationwide tour. So far the group has made stops in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Lead dancer Jaimie Goodwin said they look forward to the rest of the tour.

“It's an amazing show, and we all came together as dancers that have this focus we really want to bring our tour to the rest of the country,” Goodwin said.
