Missing man with Alzheimer’s found safe

MILLCREEK, Utah — The Unified Police Department issued an Endangered Missing Advisory on Saturday for a an elderly male suffering from advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease, and the man was found Sunday.

Derald Nielson, 69, was last seen by a neighbor at 6:30 a.m. Friday before he was reported missing. He was found Sunday afternoon. He is in good health and is expected to be OK.

According to a press release from the Unified Police Department, Nielson had left his home and was walking his dog. The dog returned home but Nielson did not.

Nielson has been missing before and has been known to travel throughout Salt Lake County.
