I had my weight loss check-up this week at BMI & Salt Lake Regional Hospital, and I learned some new exercises from Tracy and Leigha. My regular checkup is not scheduled for another two weeks, but Fox 13 thought we should do one now and then go back to my regular appointments in two weeks.

When I weighed in two weeks ago at my two month mark, I was at 352 pounds. Now I weigh 345.5 pounds, which is a total weight loss of 88.5 pounds in 2.5 months. I only have 11.5 pounds left to go before I reach the 100-pound-loss club!

This week has been a week full of new additions to my “Haven’t done in a long time” list. I was the MC at my nephew Toloa’i and his new bride Tina’s wedding, so I had to wear a tuxedo (I haven’t worn one in 18 years). I was the MC at Jordan High School’s Softball Senior Night, and I set up the equipment by myself (normally I have young teenagers carry the equipment and set it up for me). I attended my niece Alexis’ birthday party that was at Classic Skating, and I roller skated for fun for the first time in 13 years. I also went out in the yard to pull weeds for the first time in 18 years.

All the activities and interactions with my family are a constant reminder of how I missed out on a lot of things in the past. I know that I don’t ever want to go back. Some people may have much fuller lives regardless of what their weight is, but, for me, I can honestly say it was a hindrance to my quality of life. Now that I am getting back some of those things I was missing, I can see just how much of a hindrance weight can be.
