Intermountain Medical Center launches stroke awareness campaign

MURRAY, Utah – May is National Stroke Awareness Month, and Intermountain Medical Center is launching a campaign to raise awareness about the hidden dangers of salt, and the risk of stroke a high sodium diet can lead to.

Too much salt raises blood pressure levels, which can lead to a stroke.  According to the American Heart Association, nearly 80 percent of strokes are preventable.  A nurse at IMC says the best thing you can do to prevent a stroke is eating healthy and exercising regularly.

As a part of the campaign, the Intermountain Medical Center Stroke Program released a video featuring “Dash” and how he’s helping Utahns reduce their salt intake.
