TAYLORSVILLE, Utah -- A group of Girl Scouts were selling cookies outside of a store on Saturday when a man and woman stole the money they had collected.

Girl Scout Troop 2532 was selling cookies in front of Wal-Mart, 5469 South Redwood Road. At about 4 p.m. a vehicle driven by a woman stopped and a male got out and approached the girls as if he intended to buy cookies. Girl Scout Kennedi Leon said that’s when the thief sprang into action.

"He asked how much the cookies were, and he was bringing out his wallet, and as he came closer, when he got really close, he grabbed the money and jumped in the car and they just drove off,” she said.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

Kennedi said the theft shocked her, and she wishes the money could have gone where it was meant to.

“I wouldn't think anyone would do that," she said. “I'm really sad because we were saving the money to go help the Humane Society and the Valentines for Veterans, and now we just lost it, and we can't do anything about it."

Sherri Boyette volunteers with the Girl Scouts, and she said the theft was hard for the girls to cope with.

"I think it's pretty devastating for the girls,” she said. “They're, you know, shocked and wondering: Why would somebody, you know, do something like that?"

The male suspect is described as a white male in his 20s with a shaved head. He is about 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. He has a full-sleeve tattoo on his left arm. The female suspect is described as Caucasian with a thin build and blonde hair.

The suspect's vehicle, pictured below, is a teal or green Chevy Cavalier, a model from between 1995 and 1999, with Utah Centennial plates.
