SALT LAKE CITY - Police have arrested an Olympus Cove man and removed his children from his home after finding a suspected methamphetamine lab.

Police say 31-year-old David Ward crashed his car into a neighbor's wall about a block from his home, which is located near 4600 South Fortuna Way (3480 East).

When officers went to check on Ward and his three kids, they say they found meth-making materials inside the home. They say Ward fought with two Unified Police officers on his front porch, even trying to take one of the officers' stun guns.

Police say they removed chemicals and glassware used to make methamphetamine, but there were not unsafe levels of hazardous vapors inside the home.

Hazmat crews decontaminated the children, Ward and the officers involved. The children are now with their mother and Ward is being booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on multiple charges.
