MURRAY, Utah -- A TRAX train collided with a vehicle at 5900 South 300 West in Murray Tuesday morning.

It happened at approximately 8 a.m. The driver of the vehicle was able to walk from the accident with what appear to be minor injuries. Officials said the man is in good condition.

Witnesses said the driver turned onto tracks as the crossing arms closed.

"I was honking and all I said, 'Oh my gosh,' then I just turned around,"
said Jose, who witnesses the crash. "I ran out to help the guy. Amazing to find him, he was out of the vehicle."

Passengers on the train felt the impact.

"You could definitely feel it. It scared a lot of people," said Jarell Giron, who was a passenger on the train.

Both the Red and Blue lines were shut down while crews respond to the crash, according to a spokesman with the Utah Transit Authority. They set up a bus bridge to transport passengers.

The lines were back in service by approximately 10 a.m.

This was the fifth accident involving a TRAX train this year. Including this one, three involved vehicles and two involved pedestrians.
