SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Transit Authority announced they will be changing their FrontRunner schedules to serve the public more efficiently, and the changes will go into effect on Tuesday.

Under the current set up, trains come every hour, except during peak hours when they come every thirty minutes.  This will remain the case, but they will be extending peak hours in both the morning and the evening.

UTA Spokesperson Steve Allnat said the current schedule is problematic because it takes longer to load and unload passengers than was projected. He also said the new schedule better mirrors reality, as the old schedule was based on tests.

"We decided we needed to make the changes for several reasons,” he said.” We heard from our customers that we weren't making the schedule, and we knew ourselves that we weren't making the schedule, and we wanted to be as convenient as possible.”

They will also be tweaking bus schedules so that buses and trains arrive at stations at the same time. For complete details regarding the route changes click here.
