A fund has been created in memory of Meghan Arnold, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 26 of injuries sustained in an ice climbing accident on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The 30-year old Park City woman fell 30 feet while walking across a snow covered terrace to place a top rope anchor on the lower section of Bridal Veil Falls ice wall on Wednesday morning.

She sustained massive internal injuries as well as spinal trauma and head injury.

“Meghan was a brilliant soul whose kind heart, vibrant personality and compassion have touched people in every corner of the world,” said her father, Ron Arnold. “To say she will me missed is an understatement.”

Arnold was working towards her Ph.D. in public health at the University of Utah (the U) where her research in water and sanitation has impacted lives in Ghana, Peru and India.

She was an avid skier, biker, climber and lover of the outdoors and her philanthropic nature endeared her to every person whose life she touched.

A fund has been created in the name of “Meghan Arnold’s Smile” at Key Bank, Utah. Donations may be made by walking into any Key Bank branch and donating to her account or via electronic transfer, ACH or Fed Fund Wire using the routing number 124000737, or by check to the Salt Lake City Key Bank at 290 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, UT  84102.
