SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Moms for Clean Air hosted an emergency air quality meeting on Saturday to address the growing concerns over air pollution in Utah.

The meeting was held at Anderson-Foothill Library, 1135 South 2100 East, starting at 4 p.m. The group is working on creating a clean air pledge, which will ask Utah legislators not to support legislation that will lead to increased pollution.

Founder Cherise Udell said the pledge will help determine which legislators are on their side.

She said: “We’re asking, ‘Hey, is air important for Utah’s future? Do you think clean air is important for Utah’s future? And if you do, are you willing to support legislation that will enhance Utah’s air quality?’”

Utah House Rep. Brian King, D-Salt Lake City, said our ability to work together on this will be the key issue.

“I think the real question is: Do we have the political will to act collectively?” he said.

Utah Mom’s for Clean Air held a fundraising party called the Red Air Affair on Saturday night to help their cause.
