WASHINGTON D.C. — Members of the Utah Highway Patrol were in Washington D.C. on Monday to help provide security for President Obama’s inauguration ceremony.

Forty troopers were invited to provide security along the parade route from the Capitol to the White House. The opportunity was open to all troopers, and they had to whittle down the list because of the strong response.

Cpl. Todd Johnson said the troopers were happy to be involved.

“No matter what the troopers’ feelings were during the election… We live in a great nation. It’s great to go back and be a part of this continuation of power and make sure the day is safe for everyone involved,” he said.
