PARK CITY — Only at Sundance would you find a camel strolling through the snow up Main Street.

Police were called Friday to multiple reports of a man riding a camel up Park Avenue and Main Street, creating a traffic problem. The Park City Police Department said officers responded and found the man — and beast.

Director Next Anyextee rode the camel as a publicity stunt for his film “Egypt Through the Glass Shop,” which was not a part of the Sundance Film Festival. On Twitter, he posted that his ride on a camel down Main Street truly embodied “the spirit of independence.”

“A #Revolution in art yet I get kicked out of #Sundance Film Festival & escorted out of Park City by Police for a camel,” Anyextee tweeted.

The Park City Police Department said Saturday the man was cited for obstructing traffic and given a warning about handing out fliers (the city has an ordinance restricting leafleting during the festival). Both Anyextee and the camel were escorted by police off of Main Street.

On Twitter, Anyextee said that while he’s out of Sundance, he won’t stop promoting his film.”You can kick me off Main St and even out of Park City…but you can’t kick me off twitter,” he wrote.
