UTA to hold public hearings on proposed service changes

The Utah Transit Authority will hold a series of public hearings to share information and receive comment on service changes proposed for this April. Comment will be accepted on the proposal through Jan. 25, 2013. Service changes would take place on April 14, 2013.

Five public hearings will be held at locations in Salt Lake, Davis and Tooele counties:

Salt Lake County

When: Wed., Jan. 16, 2013, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: UTA Main Office, 669 West 200 South, Salt Lake City

When: Thurs., Jan. 17, 2013, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: South Jordan City Council Chambers, 1600 W. Towne Center Drive (approx. 10610 S. and Redwood Road), South Jordan

Davis County

When: Wed., Jan. 16, 2013, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Clearfield Community Arts Center, 140 East Center Street, Clearfield

Tooele County

When: Thurs., Jan. 17, 2013, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Grantsville City Council Chambers, 429 East Main Street, Grantsville

Changes proposed include:

  • Start of service on the Airport TRAX line as an extension of the Green Line
  • Adjustments to the FrontRunner schedule to better reflect running times and to ensure more reliable connections
  • Adjustments to the bus system in northwest Salt Lake County to accommodate the addition of TRAX service on North Temple and serving the Salt Lake International Airport
  • Elimination of the following routes due to low ridership: weekday routes 523 and 527, Saturday service on Route 227, and Sunday service on routes 6 and 240
  • Adjustments to the following Flex services: Herriman route F547 to 60 minute frequency, elimination of off-peak service to Grantsville route F401, elimination of Syracuse/Hooper route F628 due to low ridership
  • Additional schedule adjustments to improve reliability and connectivity at major transfer locations in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County
