SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Highway Patrol is searching for a suspect who allegedly fired shots at another car during an incident of road rage.

According to a police report, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said the incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday after two vehicles, a Chevy and a Toyota Camry, experienced difficulties while merging. As the two vehicles neared the 3500 South Southbound off-ramp on the I-215 West, shots were fired.

Highway patrol troopers said the driver of the Camry allegedly fired several shots, believed to be from a handgun, at the driver of the Chevy as it took the off-ramp. The occupants of the Chevy called 911, and Utah Highway Patrol troopers responded to the call. Several shots hit the Chevy, but there were no injuries.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old with a light build and short dark hair. He is described as between 5 foot 6 inches and 5 foot 8 inches tall. The suspect was driving a 2006 or later Blue Toyota Camry with Texas license plates. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
