SALT LAKE CITY - Two local gymnasts have only been training for a couple years, but they're already well on their way to their Olympic dreams.

11-year-old Kaden Brown has been doing gymnastics for a little over a year and 9-year-old Landon Speirs has been doing it for two years. Not a long time for gymnasts, some of whom start out as toddlers, but they've already had some major success in the sport.

"Both of them are state champions. Kaden is a national champion and Landon is a second-place national champion," said Ariana Speirs.

Now the pair have received the opportunity of a lifetime. They've been chose to participate in the Jump Start National Team, a program developed to find kids who have a future as elite athletes.

More than 600 young athletes tried out for the program, but only 40 were selected to move forward to a national testing camp in Texas.

Kaden and Landon were among those selected, so now they're heading to Texas later this month to compete for the chance to become Jump Start athletes.

Kaden and Landon are fundraising to help pay for the program. For more information, visit sponsors.wasatchtumbling.com.
