SALT LAKE CITY — Two men are facing several felony charges after they allegedly sold spice to undercover agents.

A federal grandy jury is charging Adel Al-Mukahel, 44, and Hani Al-Saimari, 43, with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Agents served several search warrants, including search warrants at Victor’s Smoke Shop in Kaysville and and VIP Smokes in Hookah in South Jordan.

Al-Mukahel was named as the owner/operator of both smoke shops. The investigation resulted in the seizure of more than 27 pounds of spice, a synthetic marijuana substitute, with an estimated street value of $60,000. Agents also seized over $230,000 in cash.

Al-Mukahel appeared in court on December 27 and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released on the condition that he will be supervised.

Al-Saimari appeared in court on December 28 and also pleaded not guilty.

The investigation was aided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Kaysville PD, South Jordan PD and West Valley PD.
