SALT LAKE CITY – 50,000 pounds of supplies donated from across the United States are in the process of being sent to Afghanistan.

Thanks to Operation Give, U.S. troops will be getting care packages containing medical supplies, soccer balls and hygiene kits over the next couple weeks that they can hand out to local citizens.

The items are shipped to Salt Lake City where they are organized and set out.

For Christmas, the troops received 6,000 Christmas stockings for themselves and for the locals.
