LOGAN, Utah - Utah State University head football coach Gary Andersen will be heading to Wisconsin, according to multiple media reports.
A report by Sports Illustrated said Andersen interviewed with Badgers' athletic director Barry Alvarez on Monday for the head coaching job in Wisconsin.
Reports say Andersen officially accepted the position on Tuesday, but the announcement won't be made official until at least Thursday.
Andersen is expected to bring much of his staff with him, according to sources with the USU athletic department.
Andersen led the Aggies to a school record 11-2 this season, a WAC Championship and a runaway victory against Toledo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
They finished the regular season ranked at number 18 in the AP and number 22 in the BCS.
The announcement came as surprise to Aggies players and fans because Anderson announced less than three weeks ago that he would be staying with Utah State and had been offered a contract extension through 2018.
The Badgers finished 8-5 and 4-4 in the Big Ten. They defeated Nebraska in the Big Ten Championship and will be playing Stanford in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.
