SALT LAKE CITY – Dozens of young women braved the snow at Main Street Plaza in downtown Salt Lake City to show their excitement for younger LDS missionary ages.

At their last General Conference, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that young men can now serve missions at 18 years old, down from 19, and young women can serve missions at 19 years old, down from 21.

Dozens of newly-called sister missionaries gathered to celebrate the younger age requirements.

“When the answer came that I was going to put in my papers and go, I was so excited but really scared,” said Kati Ford, 19, who is headed to Ukraine.
