A man who was placed on the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Most Wanted list was arrested earlier this month at a business in El Paso, Texas.

FBI agents conducted a SWAT operation and took Ricardo Herrera Gutierrez into custody on November 15. Gutierrez was wanted in connection with an armed robbery on July 15, 2011.

Gutierrez and Jesus Miguel Rivera-Vega allegedly held up Gonzalez Market at 1220 S. Redwood Road. According to a news release from SLCPD, Rivera-Vega admitted that he and his associate demanded money from Gonzalez Market employees and fled the store.

Rivera-Vega pleaded guilty to one count of brandishing a firearm during a violent crime. He was convicted and sentenced to seven years in federal prison.

U.S. Marshals will transport Gutierrez to Salt Lake City for a court appearance.

The investigation and subsequent arrest were the result of a collaborative effort involving the Salt Lake City Police Department, West Valley City Police Department, the FBI El Paso Division, the FBI Salt Lake City Division and the Safe Streets Task Force.
