OGDEN, Utah -- A house fire in Ogden has left seven people without a home Thursday.

The two-story home at 2769 Liberty Avenue had been subdivided into four units. When fire crews arrived, they found flames coming from the back of the home.

Investigators said the fire started at the back of the home, spread to the roof and then to the upstairs. A neighbor called 911 after seeing flames.

"We [saw] smoke and we were upstairs, so I ran down the stairs and we seen the whole house on fire," said Josh Morrill, family member.

Everyone was able to get out of the complex safely, but three people were treated for mild smoke inhalation. They were treated at the scene, and no one was transported to the hospital.

Although fire fighters attacked the fast-moving blaze quickly, two families are not able to return to their homes.

Tiffany Browning, a neighbor, said another neighbor kicked in the front door of the home and that is when the fire really took off.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Investigators estimate the damage at $100,000.

The Red Cross is helping the displaced families with temporary accommodations.
