SOUTH JORDAN, Utah - Students at Elk Ridge Middle School spent the day hanging words of support. Dozens of posters line the halls, all with messages of condolence for Randy Treglown, one of the school’s P.E. teachers who died in a car accident earlier this week.

Police say Treglown was jogging to school Wednesday when a car hit him just a few blocks from the school. As news spread, students shared in their grief.

“It has been a tough 24 hours,” says Elk Ridge Middle School Principal Larry Urry. “ They've been so good to step up and show support.”

Students showed their support throughout the day on Thursday. Many students wore the same Elk Ridge t-shirt, students also signed posters to be given to Treglown's family. A small memorial was set up at a spot in the hall where Treglown was known to sit during lunch.

“He was a teacher who brought everyone together,” says ninth grader Nikki Blandford. “It just shows you how much the kids loved him.”

Even students from other schools are showing their support. Cards arrived from South Jordan Middle School with words of comfort. A neighboring elementary school sent flowers.

Treglown leaves behind a wife and three children. A memorial fund has been set up at Jordan Credit Union under the name “Randy Treglown Memorial Fund."
